France’s trio to fearpublished at 12:56 BST
Paraguay v France (Sat, 22:00 BST)
Prudent Nsengiyumva
BBC Sport journalistFrance’s firepower is on full display, and the numbers behind it are remarkable.
Kylian Mbappe (eight), Ousmane Dembele (six) and Michael Olise (five) have all registered more than five goal involvements at this World Cup, a level of output rarely seen from a single squad.
In fact, Les Bleus are the first team to produce a trio this productive since Brazil’s iconic 2002 side, when Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho combined to light up the tournament and carry the Seleção to the trophy.
Matching figures from one of the most celebrated attacks in World Cup history underlines just how dangerous this France team can be. With three players delivering at that level, they carry threats from every angle, stretch defences constantly and punish even the smallest lapse.
When you’re hitting numbers that echo a legendary Brazilian front line, it’s no wonder they’re viewed as one of the top favourites.

It’s only two matches, but both showed Morocco’s ability to handle teams with a different tempo and style.
The Atlas Lions don’t just adjust, they take control, and their results against Concacaf nations reflect that growing authority on the global stage.
Morocco and Canada's chances of progressionpublished at 12:43 BST
Canada v Morocco (Sat, 18:00 BST)
Opta's supercomputer has been doing some number crunching and given Canada and Morocco's chances of progressing further into the tournament.
Morocco have a 65.69% chance of reaching the quarter-final, it is a prediction of 20.11% for them to reach the semi-final and an 8.10% to reach the World Cup final.
For Canada, the percentages are slightly lower. It is a 34.31% chance for the co-hosts to reach the quarter-final, 7.03% to reach the semi-final and a 1.92% prediction to reach the final.
Marsch's Canada chase more historypublished at 12:39 BST

Image source, Getty ImagesNext up for Canada will be a tricky test in the shape of Morocco.
But whatever happens now, and regardless of how long Marsch is in charge of the national team, football in the country has arguably changed forever.
"I remember going to Canada games in the 1990s with my father and the Canadian fans were in the minority in their home matches," said fan Harry before Sunday's kast 32 game.
"It is incredible to see how many fans have come down into the USA to watch us, hopefully that energy can help improve us back home."
It won't be easy for Canada to continue their history-making run, with Morocco ranked sixth in the world.
But belief can carry teams a long way and, given how Canada have surpassed expectations so far, it would be foolish to rule them out of causing an upset.
Canada looking to get first win over Moroccopublished at 12:35 BST
Canada v Morocco (Sat, 18:00)
Canada and Morocco are also in action tonight.
This will be Canada’s fifth meeting with Morocco in all competitions, going winless across each of the previous four (D1 L3).
Canada have only faced Scotland (6) and Iceland (5) more times in their history without ever winning.
Morocco have won both of their previous World Cup matches against Concacaf nations, beating Haiti 4-2 in this year’s group stage and beating Canada in their final group match of the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

The France boss has already won nine of his 11 knockout ties at the tournament, and another victory against Paraguay would make him the first manager to reach double figures.
It’s the kind of milestone that could add a little extra motivation for the former World Cup winner, a chance to cement his legacy on the biggest stage while guiding France through yet another high‑pressure moment.
Opta tips France for winpublished at 12:30 BST
Paraguay v France (Sat, 22:00 BST)
The Opta supercomputer struggled to see anything other than a France win as they came out on top across 90 minutes in a huge 80.3% of 25,000 pre-match simulations.
Paraguay were afforded just a 6.9% chance of winning in normal time, while the draw – and the potential for another penalty shootout – came in 12.8% of data-led simulations.
Overall, France have a dominant 86.8% likelihood of reaching the last eight, far ahead of Paraguay’s 13.2% shot of a quarter-final appearance.

Paraguay v France (Sat, 22:00 BST)
Tim Vickery
South American football expert
Image source, Getty ImagesThe Paraguay defensive line are like a collection of nightclub bouncers: "Sorry your name is not on the list you're not getting into the penalty area."
And then they decided to take a collective night off and were swept away in the first half of their opening 4-1 defeat to the United States.
But so often a huge part of a success story is failure, no-one has ever succeeded without failing somewhere along the line and that defeat I think it did them the world of good.
There was no way they were going to defend that badly twice.
So in the next game against Turkey, they managed to beat them 1-0 and they all became bouncers again.
They have a way of playing where they will defend where it seems desperate, but calm.

That is tied for the most goal involvements by a Paraguayan in the last 60 years with Roberto Cabañas (1986) and Francisco Arce (2002).

France won the previous two meetings at the finals, winning 7-3 in 1958 and 1-0 in 1998 - the latter coming with Deschamps as captain in Aime Jacquet’s side.
Les Bleus remain unbeaten against Paraguay (W3 D2), though this is the first meeting between the two sides since a 5-0 friendly victory for France in June 2017.
France also haven’t lost a Fifa World Cup game, excluding shootouts, against South American opposition since a 2-1 loss to Argentina in the group stage back in 1978. They are unbeaten in 11 such matches since then (W6 D5).

The next knockout round gets underway tonight with two fixtures, with another six to take place in the coming days.
'A team growing in confidence'published at 12:00 BST
Colombia 1-0 Ghana
Prudent Nsengiyumva
BBC Sport journalistColombia just keep pushing their World Cup story forward.
This is only the second time they’ve ever advanced from a knockout round. The first was that famous 2–0 win over Uruguay in 2014.
It feels like a team growing in confidence. They’ve also built a quietly impressive record against African opponents, now winning five straight World Cup matches after losing their very first, a 2–1 defeat to Cameroon in 1990.
They don’t always dominate, but they find solutions, stay organised and strike when the moment comes. For a side still carving out its place among the tournament’s heavyweights, these are the building blocks that matter. And Colombia seem to be quietly gathering momentum.
Ghana's unwanted recordpublished at 11:57 BST
Colombia 1-0 Ghana
Only Iraq (2) had fewer shots on target than Ghana (4) in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars did not hit the target against Colombia and became the second team in the round of 32 to not have a shot on target, after Austria against Spain.
